Muscat, 20 April 2025: CFA Oman hosted a Charter Awards Ceremony recently, at a prestigious venue in Muscat. The event celebrated the achievements of new CFA Charterholders who have successfully completed the globally recognised CFA Program.
His Excellency Ahmed Bin Jaffer Bin Salim Al Musalmi, Governor of the Central Bank of Oman, attended as the Chief Guest. In his speech, he acknowledged the growing number of CFA Charterholders in Oman and praised the increasing participation of young Omani professionals. He highlighted the CFA designation as a globally respected standard in the investment industry and emphasised the importance of ethics, professionalism, and continued contribution to Oman’s financial sector and economy. He also encouraged employers to support such professional qualifications within their institutions.
Vikas Kumar, the President of CFA Oman reflected on the organisation’s growth since its establishment in 2019 under the sponsorship of the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS). He noted that membership has expanded by over 75%, reaching 71 members, with over one-third being Omani nationals and a growing representation of women. He expressed optimism about the future, citing nearly 200 candidates from Oman currently enrolled in the CFA Program. The President also acknowledged the support of founding sponsors Sohar International and Jabreen Capital, whose contributions have been instrumental in the society’s development. CFA Oman presented a token of appreciation to CBFS for the continuous support.
The evening included a panel discussion on “Economic Diversification and the Journey Towards Oman Vision 2040,” where speakers explored the role of finance professionals in supporting national growth initiatives. The event concluded with a networking dinner attended by senior executives from the banking and financial services industries, CFA Charterholders, and members of the academia.
The ceremony reflected CFA Oman’s ongoing efforts to encourage a culture of professional excellence and ethical leadership within the investment community. As the nation moves forward with its economic transformation, initiatives like these play a vital role in equipping professionals with the skills, values, and networks needed to contribute meaningfully to Oman’s financial future.
