A Cinematic September in Muscat: Singapore and European Union Film Festivals to Enthrall Movie Lovers

Muscat, Oman – August 2025: Come September, film enthusiasts in Oman are in for a special treat as the International Film Foundation of Oman (IFFO) rolls out two exciting film festivals in the capital – the Singapore Film Festival and the European Union Film Festival, running from September 18 to 28, 2025.

The celebrations begin with the Singapore Film Festival, a three-day showcase from September 18–20 at Cinépolis, Avenues Mall. Audiences will be treated to three of Singapore’s finest critically acclaimed films – Ilo IloLand Imagined, and Autobiography.

Speaking to the media, Sudha Sha, Festival Coordinator, said:

“Films unite people from different parts of the globe, and we are happy to bring some of the best works that earned recognition at Cannes, Berlin, and the Oscars. It is rare to see such films in regular theatres, but IFFO has made it possible for Muscat audiences.”

Immediately following will be the European Union Film Festival, returning for its second edition from September 21–28. Over the course of a week, film lovers can enjoy 22 diverse films representing nine EU countries – Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Hungary, and Cyprus.

Earlier, Syed Noureddin bin Syed Hassim, Charge d’Affaires of the Singapore Embassy in Oman, expressed his delight, stating:

“We are extremely happy to host the first-ever Singapore Film Festival in Oman. This year holds special significance as we celebrate 40 years of Oman-Singapore diplomatic relations and 60 years of Singapore’s independence.”

With two back-to-back festivals offering a rich lineup of global cinema, September 2025 promises to be a month of cultural celebration in Muscat.
