Muscat: Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute (AHRI), one of Kerala’s most trusted healthcare providers with over three decades of service, announced its entry into Oman at a press conference held on Thursday at the Golden Tulip Headington, Ruwi.
The expansion plan includes establishing new polyclinics and pharmacies across multiple wilayats of the Sultanate in the coming years. The agreement was signed by Padma Shri Dr. A. Marthanda Pillai, Chairman of AHRI, along with Dr. Santosh Geever (Managing Partner), Kumbalath Sankarappilla (HR Manager), and Vasudevan Thaliyara (Operations Manager), in the presence of Haitam Al Naabi, Head of Al Hashmi Law.
“This collaboration is more than just a partnership — it reflects our commitment to raising standards, expanding services, and reaching out with care and responsibility to the community,” said Dr. Marthanda Pillai.
Strengthening Healthcare Access in Oman
AHRI already operates a facility in Al Khabourah, Al Batinah North Governorate, under the name Ananthapuri Polyclinic & Visa Medical Centre. With the addition of new centres, AHRI will gradually introduce specialised services, attractive care packages, and discounted treatments for both citizens and residents, enhancing healthcare accessibility across Oman.
Boost to Medical Tourism
The initiative will also reinforce medical tourism links between Oman and India. Patients requiring advanced or specialised treatments will be referred to AHRI’s flagship tertiary care hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, while benefitting from initial consultations and follow-up care locally in Oman — ensuring convenience, continuity, and cost-effectiveness.
Dr. Santosh Geever described the initiative as “a milestone in healthcare cooperation between Oman and Kerala, bringing trusted, compassionate care closer to the community.”
Future Expansion Plans
Promoters revealed plans to establish a multi-speciality hospital in Barka or Musannah, with discussions underway to collaborate with other leading healthcare providers.
“As envisioned by Dr. Marthanda Pillai, we are committed to bringing a world-class multi-speciality hospital to Oman, while also exploring partnerships to offer diverse medical solutions,” said Vasudevan Thaliyara, Operations Manager.
Community Engagement & Training
Alongside clinical expansion, AHRI will also launch medical camps, blood donation drives, and advanced healthcare training programmes in partnership with NGOs. Training opportunities will be available both in Oman and India, with support for smooth travel and accommodation.
This expansion is expected to play a key role in Oman’s growing healthcare sector, while further strengthening cultural and people-to-people ties between Oman and Kerala.
