At its annual Traders Meet in Muscat, Milano by Danube outlines its Global Direct strategy, showcases key products and creates new business opportunities for its dealer network
Milano by Danube brought together more than 500 traders and business partners from across Oman at its annual Traders Meet at Hilton Muscat Al Bandar, as the company addressed the growing impact of geopolitical tensions and global supply-chain disruptions on international trade.
The gathering came at a time when businesses across the region are navigating rising freight costs, changing shipping routes and uncertainty around the international movement of goods. Against this backdrop, the event focused on Milano by Danube’s evolving sourcing and supply-chain strategy, with discussions around how the company is working to create greater flexibility, efficiency and resilience while continuing to support its dealer network across Oman.

From Global Disruption to Supply-Chain Resilience
The current geopolitical environment has highlighted how quickly disruptions in one part of the world can affect businesses and consumers elsewhere. For companies dependent on international sourcing, longer shipping routes, freight volatility and uncertainty around delivery timelines have made supply-chain resilience increasingly important.

Anis Sajan, Vice Chairman, Danube Group, said, “The biggest lesson from the current global situation is that supply chains cannot be treated as a back-end function anymore. They have become a strategic part of the business. When shipping routes change or costs increase overnight, you need the flexibility to respond. This is why we have been looking closely at our global sourcing and building a more direct model.”
He added, “The brand Milano must have taken birth in the UAE but got its wings in Oman. This country has been an important market for Milano for many years, and our traders have been a major part of that journey. Having more than 500 of them with us at this event is a strong reflection of the relationship we have built. We wanted to have an open conversation about where the market is heading, the challenges we are seeing globally and how Milano is preparing for the future.”

Sahil Sajan, Director, Milano by Danube, said, “Despite the challenges we faced, including freight rates increasing nearly tenfold from USD 1,000 to USD 10,000, we never stopped our imports or compromised on our commitment to. While several players chose to scale down, we continued to invest, maintain supply and support our customers, allowing us to capitalize on the additional market share that became available. We have always believed that every challenge brings an opportunity. Just as we did during COVID, we chose to adapt and act decisively. As a result, instead of slowing down, Milano grew by 20% in this period.”
Showcasing Products and Creating Greater Value
The Traders Meet also provided an opportunity for Milano by Danube to showcase key products ranging from water heaters, sanitary, electrical, and hardware from its portfolio, allowing traders to engage with the brand’s offerings and gain a closer understanding of products suited to the Oman market. The idea is to bring all our valued clients together under one roof, while offering them exclusive and attractive deals as a gesture of our appreciation and loyalty towards their continued support.
Alongside the product showcase, the event featured special booking opportunities that gave traders the potential to generate additional profit through their purchases. By combining product engagement with attractive commercial opportunities, Milano created immediate business value for its dealer network while enabling partners to identify products with strong market potential.
Global Direct: Rethinking the Sourcing Journey
Milano by Danube responded to the situation by evolving its sourcing model and strengthening direct procurement from key international markets. Through its “Global Direct” strategy, the company is working to establish more streamlined sourcing routes, strengthen relationships with global manufacturers and respond more effectively to changing market requirements.
Sahil Sajan, Director, Milano by Danube, said, “The way products move from one market to another is changing, and we have to change with it. At Milano, we are looking at the entire sourcing journey that is from the manufacturer to the market and asking how we can make it more efficient. Global Direct is about creating that closer connection with the source while giving us greater agility in the markets we serve. Our traders are the closest to the market, so their feedback is extremely important to us. The Traders Meet gives us the opportunity to hear directly from them, understand the opportunities and challenges they are experiencing and align our plans accordingly.”
Strengthening Milano’s Oman Network
Beyond the supply-chain discussions and product showcase, the Traders Meet served as a platform to strengthen relationships with Milano by Danube’s dealer network across the Sultanate. The participation of more than 500 traders underscored the scale of Milano’s network and its continued focus on long-term partnerships in Oman.
As global trade continues to face uncertainty, Milano by Danube is positioning global sourcing, supply-chain agility and strong trader partnerships as key pillars of its next phase of growth, while creating greater commercial opportunities for its partners across Oman.
