Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat chips in for seventh Box Appeal campaign

Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat today announced its participation in the Box Appeal, an annual charity initiative organised by the Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels. Now in its seventh edition, the month long campaign kicks off on September 15th across six countries in the Middle East.

The Box Appeal involves volunteers from Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat along with I-Care Initiative in Oman and various international schools joining forces to fill boxes with a predetermined list of daily essential items. Volunteers will then distribute these boxes to the underprivileged.

The initiative has the support of key partners who are lending their support to ensure the 2014 campaign is a huge success. These include Muscat Printing Press, Oman United Agencies, Y Magazine, Merge 104.8, Al Wisal, Renaissance Services SAOG, Gulf Agency Company.

“The Box Appeal has become one of the highlights of our Responsible Business activity calendar here in Oman,” said Marius Wolmarans, General Manager at the hotel. “The campaign has grown tremendously over the years both in popularity and the number of boxes that have been given to the less fortunate. We appeal to everyone who can get involved or contribute, to help us achieve our ambitious target of 1200 boxes this year.”

Launched in 2008, the Box Appeal has collected 55,000 boxes for the Middle East’s less fortunate. This year’s campaign will include the participation of 15 hotels in Bahrain, Lebanon, Qatar, Egypt, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

“With a pledge of 20,000 boxes, this year’s Box Appeal promises to be the biggest ever contribution in the history of the campaign,” said Mark Willis, area vice president, Middle East & Sub-Saharan Africa for The Rezidor Hotel Group. “This will very much be a collaborative effort that includes volunteers from within our hotels, as well as local companies, charities and schools. We look forward to engaging new people in this initiative and making a meaningful contribution to the communities we work in.”
