Passage to India restaurant unveils Vadakkan Food Festival

Authentic cuisine from Kerala can be savoured during a two-week promotion at Passage to India. Chef Nazeer Ka, former head chef of Calicut Paragon Restaurant has been especially flown in for the occasion and will prepare a spread of 50 plus dishes that is sure to entice any food lover.

2 February 2015, Muscat: Passage to India restaurant is organising a gastronomic journey into Kerala cuisine wherein a multitude of both non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes will be prepared that will give a glimpse into the diverse preparations across the 14 districts of the state. There will be two live counters set up in the restaurant’s courtyard reminiscent of street stalls in Kerala, serving appam & stew and Malbari Parotha.
The menu has been carefully crafted by reputed Chef Nazeer Ka of renowned Calicut Paragon Restaurant that has branches in Kerala and Dubai, who has been specially flown in for the event. The preparations will incorporate famous Nadan curries, green pepper fish and whole Mathi with rice. For the health conscious food lovers, some of the fish preparations are water grilled which makes for cholesterol free food. Other mouth-watering delicacies will include chicken, fish, lobster, mutton and vegetable preparations as well as Keralite-style biryani. There will be more than 50 dishes listed in a separate menu especially designed for the festival that commences on the 1st and concludes on 15th February.During this festival only the restaurant will be in service from 12noon – 4.30p.m. and 6.30p.m. -12 a.m.  The service staff will be dressed in traditional ‘mundus’ and all food will be prepared and served in authentic ‘chatty’ dishes especially brought in from Kerala to lend authenticity to the entire promotion.

After the success of the Punjabi food festival, we decided to take it a step ahead and provide the most popular preparations of Kerala in the ongoing food festival to cater to the huge presence of the Malayali community in Oman as well as introduce the food to others who have not had a chance to savour authentic Keralite food. By the end of the year, we would be looking at getting another renowned chef for a Fusion Food Festival that will present another gastronomical feast,”disclosed Araj Mohandas, owner’s representative, Passage to India.
