Residents of Muscat will be enthralled by one of the most popular and professional teams this Eid al Adha – the iconic Harlem Globetrotters are all set to put up their spectacular performance at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Baushar on the 28th of October. The fun-filled family event will showcase amazing basketball skills by a team of 25 players, keeping the audience spell bound regardless of age.
A Harlem Globetrotters show is a real treat for families, as kids of all ages enjoy their stunts and gimmicks. Spectators will be enthralled with the Harlem Globetrotters as they display their skills punctuated with comedy and plenty of interaction with the audience.
The 2012 World Tour is the team’s 86th consecutive season of touring the world. In the Middle East, the Harlem Globetrotters will play five games over three days in the UAE from 25 – 27 October with three games scheduled in Dubai and two in Abu Dhabi before they come to Muscat.
The three-hour show in Muscat will include a host of activities that will engage the audience in addition to an action-packed game demonstrating ball handling wizardry and basketball artistry; not to mention Globie the Mascot, who will be up to his old tricks.
The event is the brainchild of Yannick Borlee, Managing Director, YB Entertainment who seized the opportunity to bring a spectacular event that combines sports and entertainment. “It is an honour to bring the Harlem Globetrotters here and to give Muscat residents a chance to witness this basketball phenomenon in action. The Harlem Globetrotters are known for their amazing skills on the court, entertainment qualities and most importantly for being good human beings – trying to make a difference through their status and the sport,” said Yannick Borlee, Managing Director of YB Entertainment. “The show promises to be three hours of adrenaline, fun and interaction, a perfect evening to spend with family and friends,” he added.
Tickets are available at Pizza Hut outlets in Qurum, Madinat Qaboos, Al Khuwair and Al Khoudh.
The event is brought to the public by YB Entertainment, Merge 104.8FM and Al Wisal 96.5FM in association with Mazda. The supporters of the event include the Oman Basketball Association, Creative Communications Advertising & Marketing LLC, Pizza Hut, Qatar Insurance Company and the Radisson Blu Hotel.
Founded in 1926 by Abe Saperstein, Globetrotters introduced many to the sport of basketball and had them hooked. In 1941, the Globetrotters signed Reece ‘Goose’ Tatum who developed amazing comedy moves and gave a new fillip to the team and the sport. They were pioneers in popularising the slam dunk, fast break, the forward and point guard positions as well as the figure-eight weave. The team has popularised the world famous tradition of ball handling with a one-of-a-kind family entertainment that takes the sport to an entirely different level.
