Cake Gallery rolls out unique social initiative aimed at college and university students

December 18, 2016

MUSCAT – Cake Gallery – Muscat’s signature cake and pastry shop brand – is taking its corporate social responsibility (CSR) obligations to a whole new level.

Touched by appeals that its scrumptious delights are somewhat beyond the reach of a key demographic – college and university students – the popular cake-shop has now decided to offer a flat 15 per cent discount to youngsters who can prove their bona fides by producing a valid student ID.

College and university students simply have to show up at any of Cake Gallery’s expanding chain of outlets to enjoy from a smorgasbord of the brand’s delectable offerings at discounted prices.

Cake Gallery’s gracious deed, which will undoubtedly gladden hearts across the city, adds another delightful chapter to the fascinating saga behind the brand’s success as Muscat’s preeminent pastry store.  This chic outlet, patronized by discerning pastry lovers, is the brainchild of young Omani entrepreneur Etab Al Zadjali.

Passionate about gourmet style cakes and pastries, Etab co-founded Cake Gallery under the umbrella of Al Balushi Food Group, a fast-growing Omani business chain with interests in upscale restaurants and leisure outlets. Launching its first store in Al Khuwair in 2010, Cake Gallery has since ramped up its presence with the addition of four new outlets in Muscat and one in Sohar.  Its rapid growth over six relatively short years pays testimony to the success of an Omani-owned small and medium enterprise (SME) and the ambitions of its young female co-founder Etab.

At a press briefing hosted by Cake Gallery, Etab and Hussain Habib, Group CEO of Al Balushi Group and the team at Al Balushi Food Group toasted the SME’s phenomenal success, and also shared details of the brand’s large-hearted gesture targeted at students.

“Unlike other countries where consumer discounts are routinely extended to students, this practice is unfortunately non-existent here in Oman.  So we decided to take the lead in reaching out to this segment of the population by offering a 15 per cent price cut on our bakery products, pastries and beverages.  This offer can be availed against the production of a valid student ID if the customer attends college or university in Oman,” Etab Al Zadjali explained.

“This one-of-its kind discount offering from Cake Gallery, which we believe is unique in the private consumer sector in Oman, is a reflection of our commitment as a wholly Omani SME to sharing our commercial success.  We are delighted to embrace this commitment as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility,” added Hussain Habib, CEO – Al Balushi Group.

The announcement was made at the media event, which took place at Zeitoun Omani and Mediterranean restaurant – part of Al Balushi Food Group who also own Party Gallery and Fun House.

Cake Gallery, the flagship of Al Balushi Food Group, runs stores in Al Khuwair, Qurum, Ghala, Al Hail and Mawaleh in Muscat, as well as in Sohar (Safeer Mall).  At the heart of the brand’s successful operation is a central kitchen in the capital area where a combination of bakeshop expertise, choice ingredients imported from select international markets, and old-fashioned passion comes daily into play in the production of Cake Gallery’s signature delights.
