Dhi Qar Girls School of Shinas visit Berger Paints’ state-of-the-art Sohar plant on the occasion of Industry Day and return armed with information that is sure to stay with them for a long time.

Seeking to be well-integrated with the local community in Sohar Wilayat, global paints manufacturer Berger Paints recently hosted a group of school children on a tour of its state-of-the-art plant in Sohar Industrial Estate.
The visit was conceptualised in the context of Industry Day celebrations organised by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), which operates an array of industrial parks around the Sultanate. Industry Day, an annual event, commemorates the landmark visit of His Majesty the Sultan to Rusayl Industrial Estate, the nation’s first industrial park, in February 1991.
For the pupils of Dhi Qar Girls School in Shinas, the tour was an opportunity to explore one of the region’s most modern paint manufacturing plants. Formally inaugurated only in last December, Berger Paints’ mega facility at Sohar Industrial Estate is by far the largest paint factory in the Sultanate.
Divided into smaller groups, the children of ages ranging from 10 to 15 years were shown around the plant’s ultramodern facilities. Their interest piqued by the highly automated systems and sophisticated technologies employed within the unit, the youngsters eagerly questioned the project’s uniqueness, product range and other capabilities – queries that attested to the success of the visit in igniting their interest and imagination.  The memorable tour ended with refreshments and expressions of thanks from teachers accompanying the students.
For Berger Paints, a relatively new addition to Sohar’s growing industrial base, the visit was an opportunity to showcase its emerging credentials in the community as a responsible corporate citizen.
“We were delighted to play host to the young, bright minds of Dhi Qar Girls Schools, and hope that the visit helped in instilling an element of scientific temper in them.  Given the emphasis that the Omani government is according to the development of the industrial sector, visits of this kind can help enthuse Oman’s young generations towards possible careers in this promising sector,” commented P.K. Raj – General Manager, Berger Paints.
Well-known Omani business house Al Hassan Group of Companies and India-based Asian Paints Limited are joint venture partners in Berger Paints (Sohar).
