| With a 1.3 million-strong
subscriber base, 95 percent coverage of wilayats
and roaming facilities in 139 countries, Oman
Mobile is offering many innovative services to
woo new customers while retaining existing users.
Keeping pace with global advancements in the sector
and focusing on a huge and untapped local market,
Oman Mobile has come up with a number of schemes.
To improve customer retention, it offers value
promotions in both Mada and Hayyak packages. MMS
tariffs have been reduced from 3 bz per kb to
0.5 bz per kb. Handsets are offered jointly with
local dealers. Among a host of new services and
products are the Short Code Directory and MMS
to over 18 operators in 16 countries.
Oman Mobile has started a call centre capable
of handling a large number of calls, making people
more productive, the processes more intelligent,
and customers more satisfied. It is investing
in solutions aimed at enhancing personal interactions
between its employees and customers.
But more than business, Oman Mobile has a national
and social role to serve. It assists various ministries.
Currently, it has an agreement with the Ministry
of Transport and Communications to allow post
offices across the country to provide services.
The company has developed novel applications and
services that promote delivery of public and governmental
services to the local community such as the useful
SMS parking, with the Muscat Municipality, High
School Exam Results by SMS with the Ministry of
Education, Ministry of Health blood donation drives,
the Sports Goal service with the Ministry of Sports
and Youth Affairs and Stock Information with Muscat
Securities Market.
It has established a Corporate Social Responsibility
culture through effective partnerships with non-profit
organisations and volunteer activities. Oman Mobile
routinely sponsors major cultural events such
as the Muscat Festival and Khareef Salalah as
well as sporting events for youth and women such
as volleyball tournaments, rally car races, football
matches, handball, camel racing, bowling contests,
and much more. It regularly supports local charities
and fund raising efforts by various organisations.
On the Omanisation front, the company has won
awards from the Ministry of Manpower , Oman, as
well as from GCC Ministers of Labour and Social
Affairs at their 23rd meeting in Abu Dhabi.
Since its inception, Oman Mobile has chosen to
be fully compliant with HM the Sultan’s directive
to qualify Omani youth for work in various sectors.
The company has put this at the top of its priorities
and this honour is a tangible result of this vision.
Omani youth are capable of excelling in this globally
growing sector. Furthermore, Oman Mobile praises
the efforts of the Ministry of Manpower in supporting
the private sector and enabling youth to have
work opportunities in various areas in order to
accomplish the set objectives and raise the Omanisation
percentage in this sector. It is worth mentioning
that the Omanisation rate in Oman Mobile in all
levels has reached 93%. However, the honouring
of Oman Mobile among the distinguished companies
in the field of nationalization and employment
of national manpower represents a challenge for
further efforts and excellence.
