With a 1.3 million-strong subscriber base, 95 percent coverage of wilayats and roaming facilities in 139 countries, Oman Mobile is offering many innovative services to woo new customers while retaining existing users.

Keeping pace with global advancements in the sector and focusing on a huge and untapped local market, Oman Mobile has come up with a number of schemes. To improve customer retention, it offers value promotions in both Mada and Hayyak packages. MMS tariffs have been reduced from 3 bz per kb to 0.5 bz per kb. Handsets are offered jointly with local dealers. Among a host of new services and products are the Short Code Directory and MMS to over 18 operators in 16 countries.

Oman Mobile has started a call centre capable of handling a large number of calls, making people more productive, the processes more intelligent, and customers more satisfied. It is investing in solutions aimed at enhancing personal interactions between its employees and customers.

But more than business, Oman Mobile has a national and social role to serve. It assists various ministries. Currently, it has an agreement with the Ministry of Transport and Communications to allow post offices across the country to provide services. The company has developed novel applications and services that promote delivery of public and governmental services to the local community such as the useful SMS parking, with the Muscat Municipality, High School Exam Results by SMS with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health blood donation drives, the Sports Goal service with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and Stock Information with Muscat Securities Market.

It has established a Corporate Social Responsibility culture through effective partnerships with non-profit organisations and volunteer activities. Oman Mobile routinely sponsors major cultural events such as the Muscat Festival and Khareef Salalah as well as sporting events for youth and women such as volleyball tournaments, rally car races, football matches, handball, camel racing, bowling contests, and much more. It regularly supports local charities and fund raising efforts by various organisations.

On the Omanisation front, the company has won awards from the Ministry of Manpower , Oman, as well as from GCC Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs at their 23rd meeting in Abu Dhabi.
