The retailing activity has not slowed down in 2009 compared to 2008 same period. The footfalls has not decreased in electronic retail stores Has the global meltdown affected retailing in Oman?
Not at all. Oman being prudent in its development plans as well as the local population driving the major component purchases, the retailing remained largely unaffected

What strategies have you impleow is the retailing activity going on since the beginning of 2009,
when compared to the same period in 2008?

What strategies have you imple mented to cope with the recession?

New product launches has gone ahead as planned. New offerings and promotions
attracted consumers

Is the second half of 2009, going to be better than the first half, in terms of business? What is your view?

Now that the world has come to the grips of recession and is slowly showing signs of recouping the fear in the consumer’s mind is getting removed. The second half will see consumers loosening the purse strings more and the markets will be more buoyant

Do you expect the forthcoming festive occasions to have a positive impact on retailing activity?

Absolutely yes. Oman remaining insulated to certain extent in the global recession and consumers becoming more confident in spending will have a positive impact in the festive season
