The private medical centers/private
hospitals in Oman seem to be mushrooming
since the past few years? Is
there so much potential in Oman for
so many players? Are more people
falling sick now than before?
Prevention is better than cure and
hence, People take precaution to avoid
any harmful diseases and consult
their family doctors. Drastic change in
life style, Change in disease pattern,
awareness of better health and demand
for specialized care in time have
influenced the system. The Ministry of
health is supporting the private health
care industry and this has motivated a
few new private players to enter in the
health care industry.
How is your Hospital different from
the others? What is your value proposition?
‘More than health care, humane care ‘is
our motto and this makes us different
from others. Affordability and availability
and 24 hour specialized care under
one roof. We cater to all segments of
the society and make the treatment affordable
to all. We are associated with
various social organizations in all events
that are beneficial to the society.
Would the arrival of private medical
centers mean that less number
of people are going to government
hospitals?
Certainly not. For easy access and individual
care people look for alternatives.
Are private medical centres
equipped to meet emergencies or
capable of providing conducting
specialized surgeries and providing
critical care?
High quality hospitals highlight the
facilities available in the region.Badr Al
Samaa is well equipped to handle emergencies.
We have an Intensive Cardiac
Coronary Care Unit to handle patients
with acute heart attack. The ICCU is well
equipped with full cardiac monitoring
including ECG, Pulse Oxymetory, Non
invasive blood pressure, Central venous
pressure and pulmonary Wedge
pressures. There are two defibrillators
in the unit and state of the art Ventilator
etc. Well equipped Dialysis Unit,
the first of its kind in the private health
sector in the country. Lithotripter unit,
another first of its kind in the private
health sector. We have also other super
specialties like Urology, Neurology and
Gastroenterology to meet any kind of
emergencies.
Is there still room for more private
hospitals in your opinion?
The country is lacking world class facilities
for the advanced treatments in
the private health sector and hence, we
have planned to set up a super specialty
hospital in the capital thus helping
people to avoid tiresome journey to
abroad for complicated ailments and
make all kinds advanced treatments
available in the country affordable to
all.
Do we see merger of private hospitals
in future?
We have seen many mergers and acquisition
happening globally in every
industry so why not in Oman in health
care industry.
